Sixteen-year-old Iban teenager Saimira anak Sanie from Kampong Biang Sibulu Amo, Temburong District, embraced Islam at a conversion ceremony yesterday.
Saimira, now known as Nur Umairah Azzahra binti Abdullah Sanie, recited Syahadah at a residence in Kampong Sungai Akar. The ceremony was conducted by officials from Dakwah Propagation Division, Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI).
It was witnessed by PDI Director Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh as well as Kampong Sungai Akar Village Head Haji Zailani bin Haji Abdul Malik and RPN Mengkubau Zone 4 and 5 Acting Village Head Haji Hairul Azri bin Haji Salamat.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the recitation of the Syahadah.
The ceremony was further enlivvened with a Dikir Marhaban and presentation of a souvenir to Nur Umairah by Haji Abdul Rajid.
A Doa Selamat was read to bless the ceremony.
Throughout last month, PDI has recorded 30 converts nationwide with 12 from the Brunei-
Muara District.
