The mukim and village consultative councils in Temburong District held a cemetery cleaning event in anticipation of the Gawai festival on Sunday.
The Iban community in the Sultanate celebrates the Gawai festival every June 1.
Prior to the celebration, they would clean graveyards of their ancestors.
Acting Village Head of Kampong Lepong Baru Ambol anak Bakit led the activity at Kampong Simbatang Iban Cemetery in Mukim Bokok.
The cleaning activity concluded with the offering of food to their ancestors, which is also part of the festival rituals.
