NBT Brunei, the authorised distributor of Toyota vehicles in the country, welcomed 2025 yesterday with the unveiling of two highly anticipated models: the All-New Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and the Gazoo Racing (GR) Yaris.
Members of the public were invited to view the latest All-New Camry HEV and GR Yaris at NBT’s Gadong showroom.
The All-New Camry HEV showcases Toyota’s advancements in hybrid technology, setting a new standard for sophistication, performance, and reliability. Equipped with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, it offers enhanced power and efficiency. The system integrates seamlessly with a lithium-ion battery that is lighter, more compact, and exceptionally quiet, ensuring a refined driving experience.
In terms of acceleration, the All-New Camry HEV can achieve 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 8.57 seconds, a notable improvement over the current model’s 9.69 seconds.
At the heart of its design is the ‘Hammer Head’ aesthetic, synonymous with the Camry DNA. The new Camry HEV features a sleek, low, and wide profile, with functional air vents, slimmer dual-beam LED headlights, and sharp body lines that enhance its athletic appeal. Slightly longer at 4,915mm – with an additional 35mm – and equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, the model exudes a commanding road presence.
Inside, the Camry HEV combines comfort, luxury, and technology. Toyota has enhanced the cabin with a guitar-style dashboard, integrated ventilator and air conditioning switches for improved control, and a 12.3-inch infotainment display with built-in navigation. The system supports wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity. Premium seating with larger cushioning offers a cozier and more ergonomic experience, while rear passengers benefit from power-reclining seats and a 10.1-inch armrest touch control.
Safety is a top priority for Toyota, and the Camry HEV is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0. The advanced driver-assistance features include a Pre-Collision System (PCS) to mitigate or prevent frontal collisions, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) for smooth lane-keeping, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with full-speed range for safe driving in various conditions, and Road Sign Assist (RSA) to ensure drivers remain aware of traffic signs.
Meanwhile, the Toyota GR Yaris brings rally-inspired excitement to the local market. Developed by Toyota’s World Rally Championship (WRC) team, the GR Yaris is designed for precision handling and high-speed thrills.
For the Brunei market, the GR Yaris is available in manual and automatic transmission variants. Its GR-Four all-wheel-drive system ensures excellent grip and stability on any surface, with three torque distribution modes: Normal, Gravel, and Track.
The GR Yaris cockpit is built for driver engagement, featuring a curved dashboard for enhanced visibility and sporty aesthetics, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster displaying real-time performance data, and sporty seats upholstered in suede and synthetic leather. Dual-zone air conditioning ensures comfort for both driver and passengers.
The public can view the new models up close at NBT Brunei’s Gadong showroom from January 3 to 8, the Kuala Belait showroom from January 13 to 18, and the Beribi showroom from January 20 to 25. – James Kon
