The Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered an Indonesian woman to settle a BND1,000 fine after she pleaded guilty to prostitution.
Twenty-six-year-old Sahnaz Saleha would have to serve a month’s jail in default of payment.
Magistrate Syaffina binti Shahif heard from Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor ‘Adliatul Hidayah binti Haji Mohd Zaidi that the defendant was found engaging in sexual services with a man for BND100 when the Anti-Vice and Gambling Supression Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force raided the hotel room in Kiulap at 6.28pm on June 12.
The police also found other evidence of prostitution on site.
It was further revealed that the defendant had been legally employed by the hotel as a housekeeping staff.
