Amid the increasing number of new COVID-19 cases and to ensure the wellbeing of patients and frontliners, the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday announced updates on the policy for visits to government hospitals.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the COVID-19 press conference yesterday outlined the latest measures where only two visitors are allowed per patient per day. Every visitor is also required to produce a negative ART (antigen rapid test) result on the same day.

Visitors categorised as close contacts or those with signs of infection are not allowed to visit even if their ART result is negative.

Each caregiver or patient companion should have a negative ART result on the same day, he said.

The minister added that, anyone categorised as a close contact or those with signs of infection are not allowed to be the patient’s caregiver or companion even if their ART result is negative. Women who are about to give birth are allowed to have one guardian or companion.

Meanwhile, special permission can be granted to immediate family members for critically ill patients through the administration of hospital wards.
