Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Hospital in the Temburong District celebrated Breastfeeding Week at Utama Bumiputra Complex in Pekan Bangar yesterday.
Themed ‘Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All’, the celebration’s objective was to draw attention to survivability, health and well-being as well as to support efforts to reduce inequality in society by focusing on breastfeeding during emergencies and crises. It is also sought to honour breastfeeding mothers in their diversity throughout their breastfeeding journey, while showcasing the support of family, society, community and health workers for breastfeeding mothers.
An exhibition on the breastfeeding week, a quiz and colouring contest for children were also held. The hospital’s senior administrator Siti Mardiyah binti Haji Besar and hospital personnel were among those present at the event. – James Kon
