The Talian Harapan 145 (Hope Line 145) will operate 24 hours daily starting March 2, said the Ministry of Health (MoH) in a statement yesterday.
Hope Line 145 is handled by trained and authorised mental health professionals from the MoH, offering four types of services to the public, including providing information on mental health services available in the sultanate.
The hotline also serves as medium for advice or counselling on handling situations that could lead to mental or emotional disruptions by providing a safe space for callers to share their issues and receive advice on handling mental health issues.
The MoH assured that all calls to the hotline and their personal details will be kept confidential.
If appropriate, callers will be advised to seek further treatment from health professionals, such as doctors, psychologists or other professionals that can provide additional help, such as the Community Development Department (JAPEM), the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).
The MoH also urged the public to provide assistance to their family members, friends or colleagues by listening to their struggles or encourage them to contact Hope Line 145.
For information on mental health services, contact Hope Line145 or Darussalam Line 123 or visit the ministry’s website at www.moh.gov.bn or its social media @mohbrunei or @th145.bn.
