The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), through the Tourism Development Department, hosted a plaque presentation ceremony to honour recipients of the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards at the MPRT VIP Lounge yesterday.
The recognition was bestowed upon Brunei’s entities in conjunction with the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2025 (ATF 2025), themed ‘Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow’, on January 20 in Johor, Malaysia.
The Empire Brunei Spa was recognised as the recipient of the 3rd ASEAN Spa Services Award, while Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex was acknowledged for excellence in the 3rd ASEAN Public Toilet Standard Award.
Sumbiling Eco Village was honoured with the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Award and Trueliving Spa and Studio with the 3rd ASEAN Spa Services Award.
Certificates of participation in Tourism Service Providers Enhancement Programme For Year 2024 were also presented to Taman Rekreasi MPK Herba Putat, IAM Food Enterprise, Oregano Enterprise, Astronomical Society of Brunei Darussalam and Rumah Panjang Sibut.
The programme aims to guide tourism service providers in enhancing their products and services to meet higher standards. The objectives of the programme are to assist tourism service providers identify key market segments, stay aligned with current trends and develop a distinctive selling point. Additionally, it focuses on adding value and personal touches to enhance visitors’ experiences.
The ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards 2025 seek to promote growth and collaboration within the region by recognising efforts that contribute to economic prosperity, social progress and cultural development. They recognise and support those who contribute significantly to advancing standards across key sectors such as trade, industry, technology and innovation.
