The official launch of the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2024 recently incorporated a unique hologram display for the Royal Patron Award.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha officiated the launch.
The hologram, projected for the first time in the ceremony, was launched by a local small, medium enterprise (SME) company, Zylit Company.
In an interview with The Bulletin, Nur Syazwana Zafirah binti Mohd Shahri from Zylit Company said, “We are very proud that our product was featured at the launch. Our company started off as a BICTA participant and we were then invited by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) to join their bootcamp. Now? We’re here to feature our products.”
She added, “Our company focuses on projection mapping which includes two products – hologram and prisms on 3D surfaces. To give a hologram effect, we use a non-translucent glass which then projects the image on the glass.
“This idea came from our final year projects on projection mapping at Politeknik Brunei.
“As for our future plans, we will need to further enhance our products and hope that we will be able to bring more new technologies into Brunei.”
Asked on the local ICT environment, Nur Syazwana said, “The industry in Brunei is developing, and there are more new technologies and new innovation coming to the country. I see that ICT is definitely growing.” – James Kon
