The nation-wide celebration of Brunei Darussalam’s 40th National Day has officially begun with the hoisting of a giant national flag that took place at the open area of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan, on Friday.
Present as the guest of honour was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad in his capacity as the Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee of Brunei Darussalam 40th National Day Anniversary Celebration 2024.
With the hoisting of the giant flag; citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam are required to hoist the national flag at their respective houses, as well as offices and business buildings and to install decorative lights at government and private sector buildings, starting from Friday, February 16 until Sunday, February 25.
