His Royal Highness presents donations to NGOs

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, presented a total of BND50,000 to two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) yesterday.

The handover took place at the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony held in conjunction with His Royal Highness’ 41st birthday.

The Aftercare Support Association (AFSA) received BND25,000, while National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) also received BND25,000.

AFSA runs programmes to help empower former inmates, also known as rakan seliaan, whose initiatives aim to provide opportunities for them to become assets of the country.

Association president Hajah Juhana binti Haji Mohd Jaya received the donation.

Meanwhile, BASMIDA, established in 1989, a national anti-drug association that carries out drug abuse prevention education activities at various levels of society.

The donation will be used for the Aftercare Drop-in Centre (ADIC), which hopes to help reintegrate former residents of the Al-Islah Centre to society. The donation was received by its president Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali. – Lyna Mohamad
