His Majesty visits learning institutions

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam visited Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, Sengkurong Primary School and Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar Primary School yesterday following the house key presentation.

Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh accompanied His Majesty during the tour.

At Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, His Majesty planted a durian pulu sapling and took a closer look at the pre-vocational programme, facilities and exhibitions on showcase during the visit.

His Majesty also interacted with the students and attended a Year 7 drill performance.

The school, established on May 9, 1994, was previously known as Tanjong Bunut Secondary School. It was renamed to Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School on July 6, 1995.

The school accommodates 1,052 Year 7 to 11 students, as well as 123 teachers and 18 staff members.

From Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, His Majesty proceeded to Sengkurong Primary School before heading to Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar Primary School in Kampong Katimahar, which opened its door on January 4, 1959 at a temporary building.

A permanent building was constructed in 1964, and reached completion in October 1965 and began operation the following month. The school accommodates 309 pre-school to Year 6 students as well as 35 teachers and 10 staff members. – Rokiah Mahmud
