    His Majesty to hold state visit, meetings in China

    His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will hold a state visit to Beijing, China on Thursday, as well as attend the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games on Friday in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province in China.

    While in Beijing, His Majesty will hold separate meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping; Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang; and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji to reaffirm bilateral relations and further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to both countries as well as the prosperity and well-being of the people.

    Brunei Darussalam and China established diplomatic relations on September, 30, 1991, in which the relations were elevated to a Strategic Cooperative Partnership on November 19, 2018. Brunei and China also share warm and long-standing relations in various fields including trade and investment, agriculture and fisheries, youth, sports, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges. Both countries are also closely cooperating in projects including the Brunei Guangxi Economic Corridor (BGEC), Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd and Beibu Gulf Holdings Co Ltd.

    His Majesty last visited Beijing in April 2019 to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Meanwhile, His Majesty last made a state visit to China in September 2017.
