His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to attend the grand assembly for Brunei Darussalam’s 41st National Day celebration. His Majesty has also consented to attend related ceremonies, including a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony.
This was announced at the 41st National Day celebration press conference held at the Jerudong Sports Complex, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), yesterday.
Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, as Co-Secretariat of the Executive Committee of Brunei Darussalam’s 41st National Day Anniversary Celebration, shared information about the events, festivals and preparations for the celebration.
As a country that upholds Islamic practices and seeks continuous blessings from Allah the Almighty, several religious events will be held in conjunction with the National Day celebration, as in previous years. These include the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony on February 22 at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan.
This religious event will also be held simultaneously in all mosques and suraus throughout the country. In the Belait District, it will be held at the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque; in the Tutong District, at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque; and in the Temburong District, at the Mohammad Salleh Utama Mosque.
Other activities held in conjunction with the 41st National Day include a Khatam Al-Quran 41 times ceremony on February 27 in all four districts. The main venue for the Brunei-Muara District will be the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah. The focal point in the Belait District will be the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque; in the Tutong District, the Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Alam Mosque; and in the Temburong District, the RPN Kampong Rataie Mosque.
The public is welcome to attend the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony in the mosques, as well as the grand assembly, as a way to express gratitude and blessings for Brunei Darussalam’s independence and sovereignty. – Lyna Mohamad
