His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki bin Osman for Singapore at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday. The Singaporean minister was on a four-day visit to the country.
During the audience, Dr Mohamad Maliki conveyed Hari Raya greetings from Singaporean President Halimah Yacob and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
His Majesty and the visiting minister also discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in economy, education and defence.
His Majesty also discussed with the minister on regional and international issues of mutual importance to both countries, including cooperation within ASEAN.
Accompanying the minister was the High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Heng Aik Yeow; Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Law of Singapore Rahayu Mahzam, and member of the Singapore Parliament Yip Hon Weng.
Also present were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.
The visit reflects the special and unique friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore.
The minister also visited Hari Raya open houses of Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries.
