His Majesty pays respect to state dignitary

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday paid respect to Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Putera Negara Pengiran Haji Umar bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong who passed away at the age of 83.

Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

His Majesty and His Royal Highness attended the Jenazah prayer at Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Putera Negara Pengiran Haji Umar’s residence in Kampong Salambigar in Jalan Muara.

The prayer was led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Putera Negara Pengiran Haji Umar was one of the eight Cheterias and a member of Privy Council and was formerly the Commissioner of Police from 1984-1991.

He was bestowed with state decorations including Darjah Pahlawan Negara Brunei Yang Amat Perkasa (1st Class), Darjah Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Yang Amat Berjasa (1st Class) and Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia (2nd Class).

The late Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Putera Negara Pengiran Haji Umar is survived by four children.
