His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Viet Nam Pham Minh Chinh at the sidelines of the 42nd ASEAN Summit, in which both leaders, among other things, discussed bilateral cooperation under the Plan of Action to Implement the Comprehensive Partnership for 2023 – 2027 between Brunei Darussalam and Viet Nam, including in the areas of energy, halal products, tourism, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
His Majesty and Pham Minh Chinh also looked forward to exploring opportunities towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation between both sides. Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Viet Nam were established on February 29, 1992, in which both countries cooperate extensively in the areas of trade, energy, education, aquaculture and people-to-people exchanges.
