His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended a bilateral meeting with Laos Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, in which both leaders highlighted the good progress on cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Laos, including in the fields of education and people-to-people exchanges.
Both leaders also welcomed the expansion of cooperation in energy and agriculture, in particular the supply of rice. Ahead of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries in 2023, Sonexay Siphandone extended an invitation to His Majesty for a state visit to Laos to commemorate this milestone.
Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Laos were established on July 27, 1993. Both countries share close and friendly relations through cooperation in the areas of education and technical assistance, culture, youth and sports.
