    His Majesty leaves Labuan Bajo

    His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday left Labuan Bajo, Indonesia after attending the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

    Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

    Present at Komodo-Labuan Bajo Airport to bid farewell to His Majesty was Minister for Public Works and Housing Dr Ir Mochamad Basuki Hadimuljono.

    Also present was Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Indonesia Yuhanizah binti Dato Paduka Dr Haji Ismail.

    At the 42nd ASEAN Summit, His Majesty and other ASEAN leaders, among others, welcomed the participation of Timor-Leste in its first ASEAN Summit as an Observer. The ASEAN leaders discussed the progress in the ASEAN Community-building efforts, as well as the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

    Discussions were also focussed on the importance of upholding ASEAN Centrality in ensuring that ASEAN continues to be the epicentrum of growth and the relevant platform for dialogue and cooperation towards shared peace and prosperity.

    On the sidelines of the Summit, His Majesty also held bilateral meetings with Prime Minister of Viet Nam Pham Minh Chính; Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim; Prime Minister of Laos Sonexay Siphandone; and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste Taur Matan Ruak.

    The meetings touched on the elevation cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as well as the exploration of opportunities in new areas of cooperation, towards further strengthening the friendship between Brunei Darussalam and its neighbours.
