His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday left for the Republic of Türkiye for a state visit until March 9.
Before leaving Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
Present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also present at His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight Hangar to bid farewell to the monarch were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Special Advisor to His Majesty, the Speaker of the Legislative Council, Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, the Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force, and the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Upon arrival at Esenboga Airport, His Majesty was welcomed by Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye Mustafa Varank.
Also present to greet His Majesty on arrival were Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Türkiye Mohammad Shafiee bin Haji Kassim.
Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Türkiye were established on June 27, 1984 and since then, both countries have extensive cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, education, culture and defence.
His Majesty’s state visit to the Republic of Türkiye reaffirms the close bilateral relations between the Sultanate and the Republic of Türkiye, and further promotes greater cooperation between both countries.
His Majesty last visited the Republic of Türkiye for a state visit on April 7-11, 2012.
