His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Saturday consented to grace the 33rd Brunei Darussalam Teacher’s Day Celebration at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, as the Co-Chairpersons of the ceremony as well as members of the Teacher’s Day Executive Committee.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah dedicated to Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and teachers who have passed on, followed by the reading of Doa Selamat by the State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
This then followed with the recitation of Holy Quran verses 1 to 7 of Surah Al-Qalam by Awang Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Haji Suhaili, Tarannum Education Officer, Institute Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah while the translation of the verses was delivered by Awang Muhammad Najib bin Haji Aliakbar, Education Officer from Institute Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah
Following this, the Minister of Education as the co-chairperson of the executive committee for the celebration delivered a welcoming speech.
His Majesty delivered a titah at this morning’s event, where the monarch launched the Ministry of Education Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
A Teacher’s Day Video clip was presented showcasing the journey, sacrifices and development of teachers throughout their career as an educator followed by a montage of the initiative of teachers in Brunei Darussalam as a driver of transformation in providing quality education to produce outstanding people.
The ceremony then proceeded with the 33rd Teacher’s Day song performance inspired by the Maulidur Rasul titled ‘Murabbi Ya Muhammad’ and Medley Songs titled ‘Terima Kasih Teacher’, ‘Quality Teacher Core to Student Excellence’, ‘Your Service Is Intrigued’ and ‘My Teacher National Hope’, performed by 32 students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam dan Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan as well as Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan, Mulaut Primary School, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School and Anggerek Desa Religious School.
