The passing out parade of the 11th National Service Programme (PKBN) intake was the largest ever with 539 trainees.
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the event at PKBN Training Camp in Batu Apoi, Temburong District yesterday.
The monarch was greeted on arrival by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Saifulrizal bin Abdul Latif, Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin and Acting Director of the National Service Division Major (Rtd) Haji Mohammad bin Dollah.
His Majesty received the royal salute and then inspected the guard of honour followed by the march past by PKBN trainees.
The monarch gave a titah and then presented awards to six trainees.
Mohd Sukhairol Suharae bin Abdullah Suhardi and Nur Insyirah Batrisya binti Haji Zainuddin were best male and female in drill category while Mohd Addey bin Samion and Rabiatul Adawiyyah binti Shahminan were best male and female in physical training category.
Mohd Nur Iffat Fadlullah bin Fandi was overall best male and Hazirah Maisarah binti Hamdillah was overall best female.
The trainees then chanted ‘Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik’ three times and the ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat recited by PKBN Religious Officer Mohd Nur Firdaus bin Abu Bakar.
His Majesty then toured an exhibition by the Community Isolation Centre at PKBN and National Disaster Management Centre.
The monarch joined a group photo and received a pesambah from Major (Rtd) Haji Mohammad.
His Majesty then visited Kampong Tanjung Bungar Longhouse and the new Sultan Hassan Secondary School in Kampong Batu Apoi, where the monarch toured the administration block, classrooms, field, library and science block.
The monarch also mingled with the school’s staff and students as well as signed a royal parchment.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh were also present.
