His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the Ilal Hijrah 1445 celebration at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong yesterday.
His Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar; Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Ilal Hijrah 1445 celebration; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid; Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha; Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.
The event began with the reading of a Doa Akhir Tahun 1444 Hijrah led by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin followed with a 21-cannon shot.
Mass Maghrib prayer was led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim who also led the reading of Doa Awal Tahun 1445 Hijrah and led the Sunnat Hajat prayers.
The Chief Syar’ie Judge also read Doa Selamat to bless the ceremony.
Meanwhile, in the Belait District, the main ceremony was held at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, Kuala Belait, attended by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar.
Also present were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin; Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad; Head of Religious Officer in Belait District Mohamad Aliyani bin Ismail, and officers and staff from government agencies in the district.
Themed Agama Dipelihara, Negara Sejahtera, the ceremony began with Doa Akhir Tahun 1444 Hijrah, led by RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Affairs Officer Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Aminuddin followed by a mass Maghrib prayer.
RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Affairs Officer Abdul Qayyum led the Sunnat Hajat prayers, followed by the recitation of Doa Awal Tahun 1445 Hijrah, and concluded with a mass Isyak prayer.
The Ilal Hijrah commemorates the migration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Makkah to Madinah.
Starting this year, the celebration will be known as Ilal Hijrah.
