His Majesty extols sacrifices beyond Aidiladha

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam said there are many forms of sacrifice that can take place outside the period of Hari Raya Aidiladha during a titah last night to mark the religious occasion.

Such acts include sacrificing to build mosques, to help the poor and destitute, sacrificing to look after the orphans or to assist flood and fire victims, sacrificing to help senior citizens and to assist new Muslim converts, said the monarch.

“All these sacrifices will lead to multiple rewards from Allah the Almighty,” said His Majesty. The monarch said, “The opportunity to sacrifice is always open to all Muslims”, and it includes making donations for the humanitarian fund for Palestinians who are defending their religion, the people and the nation.

His Majesty stated that Brunei Darussalam maintains its position on the conflict in Gaza, stating that “this one-sided war must end immediately, and the rights of the innocent people of Palestine to enjoy peace, freedom and happiness respected”.

The monarch also called on Bruneian pilgrims currently undertaking haj to supplicate not only for the nation but also for fellow Muslims regardless of where they are, especially the Palestinians.

“Supplication is a statement of sympathy and love towards those who we pray for,” said His Majesty.

The monarch added that the matter is commanded by Allah the Almighty, with Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) stating in several hadiths to love each other especially to those who are victims of injustice and other catastrophes. “That is the beauty of Islam in the context of sacrifice. Sacrifice in the context of Islam is vast and comprehensive,” said His Majesty, adding that the reward is special for those committing it.

“That is the fairness of Allah the Almighty in reciprocating the sacrifice for those who sacrifice and to those who accept such sacrifice,” said His Majesty.

In conclusion, His Majesty, along with members of the royal family, wished Muslims a blessed and peaceful Hari Raya Aidiladha wherever they may be. – Azlan Othman
