His Majesty concludes France visit

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left France after concluding an official visit on Saturday.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned recited Doa Selamat prior to departure.

Bidding the monarch farewell at the airport were French Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Bernard Regnauld-Fabre and Prefect of Occitance Pierre-André Durand.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Brunei Darussalam Ambassador to France Datin Paduka Hajah Rakiah binti Haji Abdul Lamit @ Hamid were also present.

Earlier, His Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, visited the Airbus headquarters in Toulouse-Blagnac.

The monarch was greeted on arrival at the Airbus Training Centre by Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International Christian Scherer and Senior Vice-President for Southeast Asia Kris Parampathy.

His Majesty was introduced to Airbus’ senior management and boarded a A330-900 for a test flight around Toulouse. The monarch also went to the Airbus Campus for a briefing and view the mockup of an A320 aircraft.

His Majesty’s official visit to France saw a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron where they discussed matters to enhance bilateral relations including energy, defence, security, climate change, economy and trade as well as ASEAN-France Development Partnership.

The monarch also visited Matra, BAE Dynamics and Alenia (MBDA) Missile Systems and met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies Patrick Pouyanné.

Brunei Darussalam and France established diplomatic relations in May 1984, and His Majesty’s official visit to France was at the invitation of President Macron.
