His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as Chairman of the Brunei Shell Joint Ventures Companies (BSJV) Board of Directors, chaired the 222nd Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad (Brunei LNG) and the 108th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad (BGC) for the Second Quarter of 2024 on Wednesday.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office building.
His Majesty’s role as Chairman of the BSJV Board of Directors demonstrates his commitment to guiding the future of the oil and gas sector, a cornerstone of the national economy.
This leadership ensures that Brunei Darussalam’s economic development will accelerate, aligning with Goal 3 of Wawasan Brunei 2035: “A Dynamic and Sustainable Economy.”
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; and the Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah in their capacity as members of Brunei LNG and BGC Board of Directors.
The meeting commenced with the recitation of Doa by Mosque Affairs Officer Awang Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran.
The meeting, which was also attended by key stakeholders including Shareholder Directors representing the Government of His Majesty; Shell PLC and Mitsubishi Corporation as well as members of the respective leadership teams at BLNG and BGC, among other things, highlighted the ongoing progress, initiatives and plans of BLNG and BGC.
Since its establishment in 1969, Brunei LNG made history as the first company in the Western Pacific to begin large-scale liquefaction of natural gas.
As one of the leading suppliers of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Brunei LNG primarily supplies LNG to customers in Asia.
To date, Brunei LNG has delivered more than 7,500 cargoes to their customers via four LNG vessels, owned by BGC.
His Majesty will also chair the 411th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Petroleum Sendirian Berhad (BSP) and the 189th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Marketing Sendirian Berhad (BSM) for the Second Quarter of 2024, on Thursday. – JAMES KON
