His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday attended the Formal Opening of the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM); Restricted Executive Session; and Executive Session at Kigali Convention Centre.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
Upon arrival His Majesty was greeted by President of Rwanda Paul Kagame and the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland QC.
His Majesty then proceeded to the Plenary Hall to attend the CHOGM Formal Opening with other Commonwealth leaders, and later attended the Restricted Executive Session to discuss the appointment of the new Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
His Majesty then attended the CHOGM Executive Session, which was chaired by President Kagame, and was also attended by Commonwealth Heads of Government.
Meanwhile, His Majesty on Thursday night attended the Official Welcome Reception and State Dinner at Kigali Convention Centre.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
His Majesty was greeted by President of Rwanda Paul Kagame and First Lady of Rwanda Jeannette Kagame on arrival.
The dinner was held in honour of the Commonwealth leaders attending the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
