His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the rank insignia of Major General to Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan; and appointed him as the 12th Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was also in attendance.
The event was also attended by Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and RBAF former commander Major General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat. Acting permanent secretary at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef), service commanders, joint force commander and deputy permanent secretaries as well as the newly-appointed RBAF commander’s family were also present.
The ceremony saw the recitation of Doa Selamat by Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, Royal Brunei Navy, Acting Director of RBAF Religious Directorate, followed by His Majesty receiving an audience from the former commander and the newly-appointed commander of the RBAF.
Later, His Majesty had a closed-door discussion with MinDef senior officers and RBAF commanders.
Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi previously held several key posts including the 11th Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) from July 30, 2020 to February 28, 2022; Commandant of Defence Academy RBAF from 2019 to 2020; Commandant of Training Institute RBAF in 2018 and RBLF Deputy Commander from 2014
to 2017.
