Higher education expo set for February 3

Thirty-nine participants from higher education institutions, educational services agencies, government and private agencies will be participating in the 9th Higher Education Expo 2024 on February 3-4 at Bridex Hall 2, Jerudong.

On February 3, the expo will be open to the public from 10am-5pm, while on February 4, the expo will start at 9am and end at 5pm.

This was said by deputy chairperson of the expo Dina Roslina binti Haji Aliuddin during a press conference organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE), at its headquarters.

She said the expo is expected to be launched by Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman while several inaugurations are scheduled to take place, such as the launch of an iHub+ application from the Department of Higher Education.

The expo will also feature webinar sessions through the YouTube platform on February 5-6.

She added that the ninth instalment of the Higher Education Expo will focus on providing a ‘one stop information centre’ for higher education, where all post-secondary educational institutions, government and private higher education institutions and local education agencies will provide an overview of the landscape of post-secondary and higher education locally and internationally.

The expo will also provide students with an opportunity to interact with representatives of higher education institutions and education agencies.

She urged secondary and pre-university students planning to pursue higher education to visit the expo.

The MoE will also be sharing the latest information on the HECAS Admissions System (HECAS), government scholarships, application for the accreditation of courses and qualifications and career opportunities during the expo.

Among the public higher education institutions participating in the expo are: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Politeknik Brunei (PB), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and the Youth Development Centre (PPB).

Private higher education institutions, such as Laksamana College of Business (LCB), Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT), Kemuda Institute (KI), Brunei Darussalam Institute of Certified Public Accountants (BICPA) Academy Sdn Bhd, JPMC College of Health Sciences Sdn Bhd (JCHS), Micronet International College (MIC), Mahakarya Institute of the Arts Asia (MIAA) and HADtech College (HTC), will also be present.

Nine foreign institutions will also be present: Okayama University from Japan; Singapore University of Social Sciences and Singapore Management University from Singapore; i-CATS University College; University of Technology Sarawak; Universiti Islam Selangor; Swinburne University of Technology Malaysia Campus; Enterprise Ireland from Malaysia; and University College Dublin from Ireland.

The expo will also be joined by Japanese and United States embassies to Brunei Darussalam, the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC), Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei Group of Companies and Royal Brunei Airlines Sdn Bhd as well as education agencies. – James Kon
