High commission treats special needs children

The High Commission of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam yesterday treated children with special needs at Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in Kampong Bengkurong to an iftar as well as donations.

Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah and spouse Datin Roslina binti Ismail were on hand to present the donations.

The high commissioner also presented BND1,200 and electrical appliances including a printer and food mixer to the centre, received by Pusat Ehsan’s senior trustee Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab.

Dato’ Raja Reza said, “The main objective of the event is in line with the teachings of Islam which encourage Muslims to show kindness and care for fellow human beings especially the needy and underprivileged members of the community.”

He added that Islam advocates Muslims to do charity during Ramadhan because of its blessings and multiplication of good deeds by Allah the Almighty.

The iftar event also commemorated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Brunei Darussalam-Malaysia diplomatic relations this year, he added.

The event was organised in collaboration with Cityneon Brunei, whose managing director, Dato Jack Ting, also distributed green packets at the event.  – James Kon
