The Pakistan High Commission in Brunei Darussalam marked Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at its chancery in Kampong Lambak, Berakas yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by the Pakistani community, officials of the high commission and Bruneian guests.
Pakistani High Commissioner Major General (Rtd) Farhat Abbas Sani read out the Independence Day message by the president of Pakistan while the Deputy Head of Mission Ghulam Haider read the prime minister’s message.
In the messages, the leaders paid tribute to the Father of the Nation and other leaders of the Freedom Movement for their vision, political acumen and unparalleled sacrifices, which led to the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947.
Yesterday’s event saw the high commission and Pakistani community members reiterate the spirit of independence. – Lyna Mohamad
