    Heroes’ welcome for BIMPNT-EAGA contingent

    The Brunei Darussalam contingent returned home to a heroes’ welcome following their sporting accomplishments in the 11th BIMPNT-EAGA Friendship Games in Puerto Princesa, Philippines recently.
     
    Permanent Secretary (Culture) in charge of duties of Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan greeted the arrival of the contingent and subsequently presented sashes to the medallists at the Brunei International Airport late Friday night.

    The pencak silat team managed to secure three gold medals through Nur Afifah Shaheqah binti Masli in the Women’s Artistic Individual event; Muhd Shafiq bin Sufri, Awangku Muhd Azhar Nasrullah bin Pengiran Haji Yasrizam Ayub and Muhammad Hadi Arfan bin Haji Zulkifli in the Men’s Team event and Nursyahindah binti Saiful Rizal, Nursyahirah Mawaddah binti Lutfi and Nursyarafana binti Saiful Rizal in the Women’s Team event; and one silver through Mohamad Iskandar bin Mohamad Hasan in the Men’s Artistic Individual event.
     
    The karate team bagged one silver through the Men’s Kata team comprising Farhin Idlan bin Mohd Shamrin, Muhd Iqbal bin Asnan and Muhd Syahmi Zaffran bin Bakar and two bronze through Sa’datul Hayat binti Dr Abdul Nasir in the Women’s Individual Kata event and Muhd Bazly Syukry bin Mohd Yussof in the Men’s Individual Kata event.
     
    The badminton team contributed with four bronze through Muhammad Talipuddin bin Ermadena in the Men’s Singles; Mohammad Haziq bin Roze and Muhd Izzuddin bin Ermadena in the Men’s Doubles; Nurul Asyiqin Mu’izzah binti Mohd Suhud and Rachel Pong Xue Ting in the Women’s Doubles and Mohammad Hakem Rahimiee bin Bakar and Amal Norsyazawanah binti Airwan in the Mixed Doubles.
     
    The athletics team also secured bronze through Kasyful Asymawi bin Haji Khairul Arifin in the men’s 800-metres.
     
    Meanwhile, the sepak takraw team won bronze through the men’s team comprising Muhammad Asllyi bin Haji Asmali, Muhammad Asyraf bin Abdullah Mohamad Asrul, Mohammad Faiz Fikri bin Haji Lamit, Abdul Raziq Waqiuddin bin Abdul Rahman and Muhammad Noramirul Alam bin Hassaidi.
