Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman handed over prizes to winners of the 22nd Borneo Ladies Golf Challenge Trophy (BLGCT) at the J Hotel in Kampong Kiulap on Thursday.
Her Royal Highness, as the royal patron of Brunei Ladies Golf Association (BLGA) was greeted upon arrival by BLGA President Hajah Sarinah binti Haji Masri.
The tournament, held on May 15 and 16 was participated by 88 golfers at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club. The Brunei team won the Team Event Nett 18 Holes, while Sabah came in second and Sarawak team in third. Her Royal Highness also received a pesambah from the BLGA president. Hajah Sarinah in her remarks said, “The last time we hosted the tournament was in 2014 at the Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club. This is the second time golfers from all over Kalimantan participated.”
The Borneo Ladies Golf Challenge Trophy is an annual tournament first introduced in 1991 in Sabah. The tournament provides a platform for female golfers in Borneo to strengthen relationships and cooperation, through sportswomanship and healthy competition. – Azlan Othman
