The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing with Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) is to train instrumentation and automation control operators for petro-chemical plants.
This was said by Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chen Lian Cai during the signing of the MoU with IBTE yesterday to jointly collaborate in offering the Diploma in Control and Automation in Engineering programme, established in July 2021 for IBTE students.
He added that the continuous production industries, such as the petrochemical industry, have high requirements for automatic control and are among the industries where process control technology has been applied and popularised at an earlier stage.
Process control technology plays an important role in ensuring product quality and reducing safety risks.
The event took place at the Indera Kayangan Ballroom of The Empire Brunei in Jerudong, following the signing of Hengyi Industries scholarship to 30 students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad witnessed the ceremony.
Signing on behalf of Hengyi Industries was the Hengyi Industries CEO, while IBTE was represented by its CEO Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli.
The diploma is a three-year course in which the students will undergo two years of academic education with IBTE and Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT) and one year on-job training with Hengyi Industries. Students will be provided conditional employment offers under the programme and have the opportunity to work for Hengyi Industries upon graduation.
