Helping hands for the needy

UOB Asset Management Brunei (UOBAM Brunei) and UOB Bank (Brunei Branch) collaborated with Foodlife to donate food packages to underprivileged families recently.

Families in Mukim Gadong ‘A’ and ‘B’ received packages comprising cooking oil, fragrant rice, canned foods, eggs, other food items as well as milk formula and diapers.

The families were identified through referrals from village heads, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and hospitals.

UOBAM Brunei General Manager Kamal bin Haji Muhammad said, “To support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of Zero Hunger and Responsible Consumption and Production, we are committed towards the fight to end hunger and ensuring food security. It is a privilege to partner with local social enterprises such as Foodlife, together with UOB Bank, to help those in need.”

Foodlife is a local initiative started in March 2020 to support the country’s efforts in helping underprivileged communities in Brunei. It aims to complement programmes by the government, NGOs and the public to help the underprivileged and the needy through the provision of food packs and basic necessities.
