Brunei Darussalam’s professional basketball team Pegasus suffered a heartbreak after they were edged 73-72 to Penang Sunrise Youngsters in the Malaysia D-League 2022.

Penang’s Di Yang Tee made a two-point floater clutch shot with only 10 seconds remaining to secure the win.

Pegasus’ star Marcus Quirk had 31 points with 16 rebounds and two assists, while Boon Yi Hao and Brooklyn Emerson were the only other players registering double digits with 10 points each.

With 29 seconds left in regular time and Pegasus leading 72-71, the national outfit had the ultimate chance to go three points further after Quirk was fouled by Jason Khor Hao Wen of Penang Sunrise Youngsters.

However, Quirk failed to make both free throws.

After Di Yang Tee’s clutch shot, Pegasus attempted to win the game through Shean Lin Kuan who made a two-point jump shot with three seconds left, but the ball did not go through.

Pegasus will face MBC today and undefeated side Selangor XXIII tomorrow.
