Two hundred and thirty-eight out of 254 Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School (SMALHB) students, or 93.7 per cent, passed the Brunei Religious Education of Higher Certificate (STPUB) Examination. Among those, 105 achieved Mumtaz, 77 Jayyid Jiddan, 47 Jayyid and nine Maqbul.

SMALHB Acting Principal Ustazah Hajah Hamdiah binti Haji Salleh shared this during the school’s 28th Hafl Al-Takharruj at the Main Conference Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas yesterday.

She also shared that last year marked the first time the school joined other sixth form centres in the Sultanate in adopting the School Assessed Grades (SAG) in the BCGCE ‘A’ Level.

“The school recorded a 100-per-cent passing rate with 96 students scoring at least two ‘A’s and 92 students or 95.83 per cent scored three ‘A’s,” she said.

The acting principal congratulated the recipients; as well as parents and guardians, for ensuring that the students attended the physical and online learning, facilitating them with their necessities and ensuring that the students were not left behind in their studies.

She also conveyed her gratitude to the teachers who have worked hard to educate the students.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the guest of honour, presented 215 students with the STPUB certificates, 73 students with the BC GCE ‘A’ level certificates, 23 students with both STPUB and BCGCE ‘A’ Level certificates in Arabic and general, as well as special awards to 11 students.

Also present was MoRA’s Director of Islamic Studies Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar.
