Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) and Tourism Malaysia have come together to launch the Hello Kawan packages, offering travellers looking to fly to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia.

The launch of the packages was held yesterday at Tourism Malaysia’s office at The Rizqun International Hotel and were officiated by High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah and RB Chief Executive Officer Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid.

Captain Sabirin shared that Malaysia has always been one of the top go-to destinations for Bruneians and is delighted to partner with Tourism Malaysia to provide comprehensive packages of hassle-free travel.

“Apt to its name, this ‘Hello Kawan’ collaboration serves as a testament to the shared commitment of the two nations to foster cultural exchange, tourism and economic growth,” added Captain Sabirin.

He also hopes to see an increase in flight frequency as currently, there are eight flights to Malaysia per week compared to 14 flights previously.

Director of Tourism Malaysia Brunei Hazrina binti Azman said the packages combine RB’s world renowned flights and affordable hotel stay in Malaysia.

She said, “In a bid to welcome 1.1 million tourist arrivals from Brunei Darussalam this year, the campaign hopes to entice Bruneians to explore more of Malaysia. It also indicates that we are ready to usher in more tourists and achieve our target of welcoming 16.1 million international tourist arrivals in 2023.

“In 2022, Malaysia recorded 301,757 Brunei tourist arrivals, thus reflecting strong pent-up demand in the post-pandemic, as Brunei Darussalam is one of the most important markets for Malaysia’s tourism industry,” she said.

The promotion runs from June to August this year.

Meanwhile, the envoy said, “This is a win-win collaboration and a smart partnership where local travel agents can benefit from the campaign while businesses and tourists attraction in Malaysia will stand to gain.”

Before concluding the event, winners of the recent the RB x Sarawak RWMF social media competition received their prizes.
