Hari Raya gatherings strengthen ties

Benzer Club members held a Hari Raya gathering in conjunction with the festive season at the Star Lodge Hotel in Jerudong yesterday.

Chairman of the event organising committee Mohd Rahimi bin Rahiman said the festive event was aimed at strengthening bonds between members of the Mercedes Benz Enthusiast group, promoting a sense of family, while extending gratitude to the members for their support and contribution to the group.

The Benzer Club plans to hold more events in the future including forums on the maintenance of Mercedes Benz for its members, he added.

The event also featured games and a karaoke session.

Acting Village Head of Kampong Jerudong Haji Khairul Azmi bin Haji Lakat was the guest of honour.

Belait District Senior Citizen Association

The Belait District Senior Citizens Association (PWEDB) organised a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the Belait District Youth and Sports Department premises on May 28.

PWEDB President Dr Haji Mohd Shah bin Imam Haji Ahmad and chairman of the celebration Mohd Yunos bin Haji Pungut welcomed the guests.

Mohd Yunos said the celebration is one of the annual activities held for its members.

“The event is made possible with collaboration between the committee and the members. It is hoped the gathering will help strengthen ties and encourage the district’s senior citizens to participate in community activities,” he said.

The event also saw an array of performances, including singing and a poem recitation by Beelie bin Tengah, as well as an exchange of gifts.

Former penghulu of Mukim Kuala Belait and member of the association’s advisory board Haji Pungut bin Ali was the guest of honour.

Kemuda Institute

Kemuda Institute hosted a Hari Raya gathering at its Beribi Campus recently.

The event began with welcoming remarks from ExCo Public Relation Muhammad Khairul Ikwan bin Abdullah Hazwan, followed by the recitation of prayer led by ExCo Religious Affairs Muhammad Haziq Afiq bin Haji Mohammad and a speech from KEMUDA Institute principal Mohammed Khairy Yusrin bin Haji Abdul Salam.

Karaoke performances enlivened the celebration.

The event, aimed at fostering ties, also featured games such as a try-not-to-laugh challenge, a best dress contest, guessing games and a lucky draw.

Women Graduate’s Association

The Women Graduates’ Association of Brunei Darussalam (PSW) celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri at its president’s residence in Kampong Mata-Mata Gadong on Saturday.

The event began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by host Pengiran Hajah Zabaidah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaludin followed by a Doa Kesyukuran by Zeliha binti Haji Mohamad Ali.

Pengiran Hajah Zabaidah also distributed a pamphlet on the Violence Against Women survey, launched in conjunction with the International Women’s Day celebration.

To date, over 300 feedback have been received, and findings on the survey will be shared with relevant parties.

The celebration also saw a cake cutting to mark the 80th birthday of senior PSW member Datin Paduka Hajah Rokiah binti Haji Jackia.

FRD retirees

A Hari Raya Silaturrahim ceremony was organised by the 23rd Fire and Rescue Personnel Squad 86/87 at the residence of Pengiran Hassan bin Pengiran Atan in RPN Kampong Rataie yesterday.

Former Fire and Rescue Director Pengiran Haji Md Daud bin Pengiran Mohamad was present, joined by former officers-in-charge Othman Jailani bin Haji Ismail and Haji Rane bin Haji Othman, as well as retired firefighters, officers-in-charge, trainers and personnel. The event began with a welcoming speech from Chairman Muhamad Ali bin Hassan.

A Tahlil and Doa Arwah recitation was also held for departed firefighters and personnel from the 23rd Squad Male Firefighters and 1st Squad Female Firefighters/1987, led by Sopian bin Haji Ibrahim.
