Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam

The Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam continued its series of Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration in Belait District yesterday.

The event at V-Plaza Restaurant in Kuala Belait saw the participation of 130 Malaysians residing in the district.

This is the first time that Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah and spouse Datin Roslina binti Ismail got an opportunity to understanding the life of their countrymen in the district. Persatuan Kebajikan Melayu Se-Malaysia (PKMS) President Haji Shahadan Abdol, Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia President Azlan Ahmad, Sapura Energy Operations Manager Norzaidi Zahidin and V Plaza Hotel General Manager Tengku Taufiq Tunku Mahmud were also present.

The high commissioner delivered a speech on Brunei-Malaysia ties and the struggles faced by Malaysians in the Sultanate. He later pledged continuous support for Malaysian citizens during hardships.

He also expressed hope that international borders’ re-opening will spur economic growth.

The celebration also saw a dialogue session during which attendees had the opportunity to pose questions and share their experiences.

Brunei Darussalam Sepak Takraw Association

The Brunei Darussalam Sepak Takraw Association (PESTABARU) held a celebration to mark Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Wecan Restaurant in Gadong recently.

Association president Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan bin Pengiran Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abas, executive committee and committee members as well as PESTABARU referees were in attendance.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Mohammad Isa bin Haji Marsidi followed by a Doa Selamat and welcoming remarks from the president and secretary general Ramlan bin Haji Mohd Said.

The celebration was enlivened by a lucky draw.

DES School

DES School held a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration last Saturday where students enjoyed food packs provided by the children, parents, guardians and staff.

The school also organised a handover of cash donations two days later by Business Development Executive Hajah Aliya Ameera binti Haji Bahrein and Deputy Principal Dayangku Rinawati binti Pengiran Ramli. The students also received gift boxes from Serenity by Berqat Foods.

The event was aimed at helping students to understand the act of giving according to Islam and the Malay culture.

Ahmad’s family

Tears of joy and laughter filled the air as relatives met for the first time during a gathering of Ahmad’s descendants to mark Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the Fire and Rescue Department’s multipurpose hall in Berakas recently.

The gathering was the brainchild of Ahmad family’s fourth generation member Haji Awang Abdul Hakim bin Haji Awang Mohd Yassin, who gathered information and enlisted relatives to track down distant kins to hold the first gathering for his extended family.

The event began with prayers and recitations of verses of Al-Quran followed by a speech from Haji Awang Ismail bin Mohamad. It continued with an ice-breaking session, a Tahlil and Doa Selamat.

The gathering feted four surviving members of Ahmad’s brood of seven.

The event concluded with a feast and a lucky draw.

Kampong Lambak Youth Association

Some 60 Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL) members gathered at Higher Hotel Restaurant in Kiulap to mark Hari Raya Aidilfitri recently.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Permanent Chairman Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Pungut followed by guest of honour and Acting Village Head of Kampong Lambak Kanan Pengiran Jofri bin Pengiran Haji Zaidi delivering a speech.

The celebration continued with event chairperson Pengiran Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Haji Md Tahir expressing hope of stronger ties between members following the event.

The celebration continued with performances and a lucky draw, before concludingwith PERBEKAL patron Pengiran Haji Nordin bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud presenting gifts of appreciation.
