Forty-nine students from the NTec in Industrial Equipment Maintenance and NTec in Industrial Machining and Maintenance programmes, along with 10 staff members from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC), gained insights into the various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and their role in maintaining high safety standards in the industry.
Held on December 2 at the campus’ mechanical workshop, the NDT Awareness Training Programme and workshop was organised by Beta Testing Services Sdn Bhd as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
During the programme, participants received hands-on experience with five basic NDT methods, led by instructors.
These included visual testing, penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, radiography testing and ultrasonic testing.
Technical manager and NDT/ISO trainer at Beta Testing Services Sdn Bhd, Balakrishnan Chandramohan, highlighted that this was the first time a local NDT training provider conducted such an awareness training at IBTE level.
“This initiative aims to ensure participants are better equipped to select the right career path for their future. Beta Testing Services will also continue offering similar training sessions at other technical schools in the near future,” he said. – Daniel Lim
