Groundbreaking ceremony marks start of large-scale project

A new Katimahar Light industrial project with a sports complex and food court, set to be completed in 2025, officially started its construction following a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday.

Acting Village Head of Kampong Katimahar Haji Bujang bin Haji Abdul Ghani and spouse, Hajah Zunidah binti Haji Abdul Ghafar, as well as Iman Azizan bin Haji Asmat with developers of the project Chieng Chiew Cham and Jacky Chieng Long Fatt officiated the ceremony.

Located at Simpang 99 of Jalan Katimahar, the Katimahar Light Industrial Project covers around five acres of land comprising 46 units of business premises ideal for multi-storey rack storage, light manufacturing business, car workshop, distribution centre, wholesale, packaging and a gym.

Meanwhile, the sports complex comprises an indoor playground (ninja obstacle course), a basketball/futsal/netball court, five badminton courts and a swimming pool.

One of the developers Chieng Chiew Cham said, “The project embodies our commitment to create a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable community.

“We also believe in the potential of the project and turn this project into reality.”

The groundbreaking ceremony, he said, “symbolised the beginning of a journey of hard work, innovation, collaboration and together to shape the future of the area and alleviate the quality of life in the surrounding areas”. – James Kon
