Golden age gathering sets new world record

(UPI) – In a remarkable celebration of longevity and community, the Fondazione Opera Immacolata, an Italian retirement home chain, made history with their annual gathering of centenarians.

This year’s event, held in Padua, shattered the previous Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people aged 100 and over.

An impressive 70 centenarians attended the celebration, breaking the previous record of 45 set in Australia in 2016.

The Fondazione Opera Immacolata operates 11 retirement homes across Veneto and Gorizia and has been organizing these annual gatherings for about 15 years and each year, the event has seen a steady increase in participant.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was present to officially confirm the record-breaking achievement.

The centenarians, many of whom have lived through significant historical events and societal changes, enjoyed a day dedicated to celebrating their lives and achievements.
