Giving back to those in need

Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bdn (BMC) hosted a sungkai event for 11 underprivileged families from Mukim Liang in the Belait District at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid who is also Deputy chairman of BMC was the guest of honour.

Also in attendance were BMC’s board members, Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Liang Mohammad Haszrin bin Bagol who is also Village Head of Kampong Sungai Liang.

BMC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jesus Enrique Mora Marin highlighted that BMC has always been committed to giving back to the community and the event is one way to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Following the speech, the guest of honour handed over donations to the underprivileged families.

BMC’s CEO presented a BND5,000 donation from fund raised from BMC staff for the Belait District Orphan Fund.

BMC also hosted a religious talk delivered by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali assistant lecturer and motivational speaker Muhammad Khairul Nazif bin Haji Awang Damit to glorify the holy month of Ramadhan.

The event is part of BMC’s initiative to care for underprivileged families in Mukim Liang and to alleviate their burden during the month of Ramadhan.

It was also held in preparation for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration. The initiative is a corporate social responsibility event that BMC has in the pipeline.
