A charity programme by a local village community hopes to foster a culture of helping each other in need, especially as the holy month of Ramadhan draws near.
Acting Village Head of RPN Kampong Mentiri Zone 2 Haji Nizam bin Haji Julaihi said the village consultative council and the women’s bureau began the Dibuang Sayang project to assist the village community.
“Although it is a simple programme, it is significant for the recipients,” he said, adding that it would help them prepare for the observances during Ramadhan and the following Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
Yesterday, the programme received donations of clothing, to be handed over to the underprivileged. “We have had a very encouraging response, especially among the villagers. We have also received support from outside the district who generously donated clothes,” said the acting village head.
He said the programme committee will receive donations up until March, when they will be handed over. – Azlan Othman
