GHK Motor win veteran final in Low San meet

GHK Motor edged TK Teahouse 88-86 in a nervy finish to win the veteran category final of the Low San Basketball Tournament 2023 at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat on Friday night.

The newly-crowned winners survived a late resurgence after taking a one-point lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter as Ang Han Then maintained his composure to convert a free throw.

Having found momentum to seize control for most of the tie, newcomers GHK surrendered their lead as TK Teahouse’s Castro nearly played a role as an unlikely hero with two points.

But, TK’s moment of joy helped by their excited supporters was short-lived as GHK’s man-of-the-moment Lim How walked up uncontested to convert a free throw and set up a  dramatic finish.

With GHK going on the defensive, TK Teahouse missed an opportunity to regain the lead in their next visit before victorious team captain Kenny Lim sealed the match with two  seconds remaining.

Late in the fourth quarter, title contenders TK Teahouse grew into the game as the experienced Requintin showed determination and perseverance to put his side within touching distance of their opponents. GHK star Lim How led the scoring with a game-high of 32 points with captain Kenny Lim providing to be a similar threat with 22 points to his name.

Meanwhile, Jauhali’s efforts of putting TK Teahouse in contention saw him contribute with 22 points followed by Requintin with 20 points.

Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin attended the match.

The much-anticipated Men’s Open final between Wan Sing Trading and D’Barkadz will bring down the curtains of this year’s edition of the Low San Basketball Tournament. – Fadhil Yunus
