The third cohort of the Program Jati Diri (PJD) scheme began their training yesterday, following an opening ceremony at the National Service Programme (PKBN) Training Camp in Batu Apoi, Temburong District.
Some 90 trainees under the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) will undergo the 90-day industrial skills training programme, which is part of the iSkill qualifications for marking and fitting, rigging, scaffolding and welding.
The PJD is a collaboration between the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Secretariat, IBTE, and the National Service Division (BKBN), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
MPEC Secretariat Head Dr Hajah Siti Haziah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin said, “Since its introduction 344 trainees from two previous cohorts have completed the programme.”
She said the programme is intended to prepare the trainees to face challenges, increase their employability and be industry ready for the job market.
Permanent Secretary (Wawasan) at the Prime Minister’s Office Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad was the guest of honour.
