Getting back to a healthy lifestyle

The past week has been busy for many Raya celebrants, as visits to open houses were always accompanied by tempting spreads of Raya food. The thought of indulging was hard to resist, and any concern about clothes feeling tighter seemed to disappear in the moment.

After seven days of rendangs, satays and briyanis, only then the reality of what those seven days of eating have done to one’s figure.

While dieting is not a favourite word for some, opting for a better solution to get rid of those extra kilos would be resetting back to the usual fitness routine before the festivities.

In an interview, avid runner Dzul Husni with his friends said open house invitations will mostly be held on weekends, hence celebrants need to be mindful and still limit the intake of foods high in oil and sugar. Fellow runner Ejal Elia also said that when celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri, there is also a need to maintain good health and exercise in the morning or evening, which should never be left out.

With that in mind, they reminded the public not to indulge in sugary foods and drinks, especially during open houses and focus on the quality of food rather than the quantity of food. “Start a routine exercise and set a goal as well as the desired weight to achieve and let this be a motivator to keep fit and healthy.” – Lyna Mohamad
