Genting bus crash: Two fatalities

PETALING JAYA (ANN/THE STAR) – A tragic accident occurred when a tour bus with 21 passengers overturned while descending from Genting Highlands, resulting in the deaths of two Chinese nationals.

Datuk Dr Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Isa, the director of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, reported that the two male victims sustained fatal head injuries in the incident, which took place at 11am yesterday. The bodies were subsequently transported to Hospital Bentong in Pahang.

Among the 21 individuals on the bus were 18 Chinese nationals, the bus driver, and two tour guides.

A 21-second video of the accident quickly went viral, showing several emergency responders already on the scene, working to manage the aftermath of the accident.

Genting Malaysia Bhd said the bus, owned by a third-party operator, was carrying 18 tourists from Yunnan, China, and descending from Genting Highlands.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of the deceased.

We wish a swift and full recovery to those injured.
