Preparations are underway to mark Brunei Darussalam’s 39th National Day celebration at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on February 23, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad said.
He said this during the second meeting of executive committee members for the 39th National Day celebration hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) at the ministry’s Digadong Hall yesterday.
The minister was informed that there are 16 days left for the 39th National Day celebration.
With the spirit of patriotism and nationhood as well as a whole-of-nation approach, consultation and understanding, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi said, “We will work together in ensuring Brunei Darussalam’s 39th National Day celebration is conducted smoothly, systematically and prudently in an atmosphere filled with joy and excitement.”
The meeting, chaired by the minister, was a follow up on the previous meeting to share updates on preparations for the 39th National Day celebration including rehearsals, especially main ceremonies involving His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family, mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Kesyukuran as well as the grand assembly.
The preparation for other events include the distribution of miniature national flags and flag-hoisting ceremony and side events such as the 39 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony.
Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan as well as permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries and executive committee members for the 39th National Day celebration were also present.
